A refined pair of satinwood occasional or lamp tables by the noted Dublin cabinet maker James Hicks, Dublin each of elegant and slender proportion.

The square tops are finely quarter-veneered, displaying vibrant figuring and framed with delicate crossbanding and chequered stringing. The friezes are shaped with subtle Moorish-inspired arches, lending architectural interest and lightness to the design.

Raised on four tall tapering legs veneered to all sides with beautifully figured satinwood, terminating in contrasting inlaid cuffs above neat feet. Each table is united by a low square undertier, also finely veneered, providing both stability and additional display surface.

The quality of timber selection and precise veneer work are characteristic of James Hicks, whose work reflects the refined craftsmanship and restrained elegance associated with early 20th-century Irish furniture making.

Graceful in scale and versatile in function, this handsome pair would serve equally well as lamp tables, plant stands or decorative pedestals within both classical and contemporary interior.
