An attractive late 19th century miniature Grandfather longcase clock sometimes referred to as a Granddaughter clock attributed to Maples & Co. London.  The arched hood surmounted by a broken swan-neck pediment with carved roundels and urn finials, centred by a floral and scroll-carved cresting. The brass dial with silvered chapter ring, Roman and Arabic numeral. The arch enclosing a subsidiary seconds dial with the Latin motto “Tempus Fugit” (“Time Flies”) within an engraved roundel. The spandrels cast with scrolling foliage and masks.

The case of richly figured mahogany with fluted columns, an arched trunk door of finely figured timber, and a moulded base on ogee bracket feet, all displaying the fine craftsmanship and classical proportions. The eight-day movement striking on a bell.
