A fine Edwardian inlaid mahogany longcase clock by Maples & Co., London, the finely proportioned case constructed from richly figured mahogany with satinwood crossbanding and marquetry inlays of classical urns, scrolling foliage, and floral motifs. The arched hood surmounted by a shell and lyre cresting, with fluted columns to the sides and a panel of anthemion inlay beneath.
The trunk door features a central marquetry panel of ribbon-tied flowers and scrolling husks within satinwood borders, flanked by gently curving sides. The base with a diamond-pattern inlay and raised on turned tapering legs.
The eight-day movement with anchor escapement, striking the hours on a bell. The brass dial with silvered chapter ring, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, and matted centre, enclosed by gilt spandrels. Signed, Maple & Co. Ltd London.
