A fine late 18th-century Georgian satinwood and marquetry secretaire display cabinet, of outstanding quality and elegant proportions. The upper section features a central arched pediment intricately inlaid with neoclassical motifs including urns, floral garlands, and scrolling foliage, flanked by glazed side panels with adjustable glass shelves. The central glazed door opens to reveal a velvet-lined display interior.
The lower section comprises a fitted secretaire drawer with a fall-front writing surface, opening to reveal an arrangement of small satinwood drawers and pigeonholes. Flanking the secretaire are two short drawers with original circular brass pulls and escutcheons. The entire piece stands on square tapering legs, decorated with fine floral marquetry inlays and terminating in spade feet.
The cabinet exhibits the refined craftsmanship characteristic of the Sheraton period, with the delicate inlay work and light satinwood veneers creating a harmonious and graceful aesthetic.
