A fine English Regency secretaire side cabinet in the manner of John McLean. Of exceptional quality and fine design, the upper section surmounted by a pierced brass gallery above a mirrored back flanked by fluted columns with gilt-mounted capitals and bases, and fitted with three frieze drawers. The lower section with a hinged fall-front enclosing a fitted interior of satinwood and rosewood veneers with small drawers and pigeonholes, forming a writing surface, above a pair of silk-backed grille doors enclosing shelved storage. Decorated throughout with finely executed brass inlay in foliate and scroll motifs, the sides and uprights similarly embellished, all raised on a shaped plinth base.
