A Fine Irish Regency Giltwood Overmantel Mirror, of impressive horizontal proportions, the rectangular breakfront plate divided into three sections within moulded slip frames, surmounted by a boldly projecting cornice with a continuous bead-and-reel border. The frieze centred by richly carved cylindrical tablets applied with high-relief fruiting vine and floral swags, interspersed with square paterae carved with spread-wing eagles in relief.

The uprights formed as clustered and ring-turned columns with burnished and matte gilded finishes, raised on block bases carved with rosettes and terminating in stylised paw feet. The gilding of warm tone with contrasting burnished highlights, accentuating the depth of carving and classical detail throughout.

A decorative and architectural statement piece, reflecting the robust classical vocabulary and confident ornament associated with the Regency period.
