The boldly scrolled cresting features a dramatic plume of acanthus leaves and openwork lattice, flanked by scrolling foliage and floral flourishes. The frame is richly adorned with C-scrolls, trailing vines, and intricately carved flowers, exemplifying the finest craftsmanship of the mid-18th century. The original or period-appropriate mercury plate sits within a deeply molded surround, lending authentic character and patina.
