An exceptional pair of 19th Century French commodes in the Louis XV style by Alexander Monterey. Constructed in book-matched kingwood veneers, inlaid with floral motifs and richly decorated with fine ormolu mounts, of bombe serpentine form, having the four drawers framed within a foliate ormolu cartouche, with conforming ormolu scrolled sabots and espagnolettes: the sides having conforming ormolu cartouches enclosing the quarter veneers and having a Breche d'Alep platform with a thumbnail moulded edge.
