The rectangular top with rounded front corners is banded in rosewood and bordered with intricate gilt-bronze edging. The frieze is mounted with a central gilt-bronze classical anthemion and supported on sweeping sabre legs adorned with remarkable gilt-bronze female Egyptian caryatid heads, terminating in gilt paw feet.
