A superb Pair of French Aristocratic Portraits by the famed French Portrait Artist, Charles Gomien (1808-1876). They are Oil on Canvas, signed, dated 1862 and in good condition. Gomien entered the Ecole des Beaux - Art in Paris in 1828 and was a pupil of the famed Louis Hersent and Paul Delaroche. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1831 to 1875 and was very sucsessful as a portraitist for the most illustrious French familes and aristocrats which served under Louis-Phillipe and Napoleon lll. He lived in Central Paris and his portraits are large and rare to come to market so these were a fortunate find for me in France. They make a striking pair and would add a touch of Aristocratic French Flair to any Grand Room.
