A very fine and attractive French Lyre mantel clock by Ponds of Paris in ormolu mounted mahogany. The clock, set on a rectangular base sitting upon four ball feet. The arms of the lyre in well figured mahogany and with applied ormolu mounts of laurel leaves with a central motif. The crest of the clock decorated with a floral ormolu mounts. The gilt bronze dial is surrounded by a fine cast bronze ormolu bezel of stiff leaf and dart design and the hour chapters are Roman Numerals . The clock is surmounted by a mask with radiating sunrays. The 8 day silk suspension movement strikes the hours and halves using the countwheel system. The silk suspended pendulum in ormolu of a beautiful butterfly which is most unusual.
