A stunning pair of ormolu mounted Sèvres style porcelain vases and covers, made in France in the late nineteenth century in superb Sèvres style. With gilt pinecone finials and covers, these pieces are lavishly decorated and richly adorned with gilding against a ‘bleu celeste’ turquoise background. Each of elongated baluster form, painted in the manner of Boucher with a gentleman and companion reading a love letter before a ruin, the reverse with a wooded pond scene, a cottage in the distance, the cover, neck and foot enriched with gilt scrollwork. each signed "G.Poitevin".
