An impressive and expressive pair of 19th-century Grand Tour hand-carved walnut lions, each depicted standing with one paw resting on a sphere—symbolizing dominion and power. The figures are finely modelled in the round, with expressive snarling faces, muscular haunches, and deeply carved manes. Resting on original rectangular gilt-trimmed plinths, these lions reflect the influence of Italian Renaissance models, particularly the Medici lions.
