Product Details
H:
A late 19th century Georgian style mahogany two seater settee of small proportions, of compact and elegant form, the twin shaped backrests surmounted by scrolling crests centred with carved shell motifs. Each splat is intricately pierced and interlaced with foliate scrollwork, terminating in shaped reserves, displaying confident carving and strong depth.
The downswept open arms with scrolling handgrips are supported by shaped uprights carved with trailing foliage, leading to a generously proportioned upholstered seat. Raised on three carved cabriole front legs with acanthus-carved knees and bold claw-and-ball feet, united by stretchers to the rear supports for added stability.
Of particularly desirable small scale, making it highly versatile for hall, landing, bedroom or drawing room placement.
